Research Program

Background of the research program
Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Generative AI (GenAI), is reshaping industries by enabling organizations to analyze vast datasets, generate insights, and enhance decision-making at an unprecedented scale. Unlike previous technological advancements, AI has the potential to fundamentally transform strategy formulation and execution, offering companies new ways to improve performance and maintain competitive advantage.
However, despite its promise, many organizations struggle with AI integration, leading to inefficiencies, leadership challenges, and concerns about employee well-being. To address these critical gaps, this research project examines three pressing global challenges:
- how AI enhances strategic work and competitive advantage,
- how leadership must evolve to effectively manage AI-driven workplaces, and
- how AI impacts employee well-being, job satisfaction, and long-term workplace culture.
Collaboration between leading academic organizations and partners
The project is uniquely positioned to deliver transformative insights by bringing together world-class academic institutions and leading industry partners
- Led by Aalto University, supported by the University of Oxford and the University of St. Gallen
- Industry partners such as Futurice, Assa Abloy, Datafisher, AiSkillSet, Tangible Growth, and Microsoft
Main objectives
Overall, the research program aims to:
- create an advanced conceptual map of AI tools and execution frameworks for strategy work,
- develop new leadership models suited for AI-augmented teams, and
- assess AI’s impact on workplace trust, job security, and employee well-being.
By providing organizations with a roadmap for responsible and sustainable AI adoption, this research will ensure that AI is not merely implemented but strategically leveraged to drive long-term business success, innovation, and social sustainability.
